完全不知道莫拉克的災情嚴重到這樣的地步！
一晚的新聞，眼淚停不住‥‥‥
原來從上個週六早晨莫名的喉嚨痛那時起，
就是我的國家台灣的災難的開始。

你說：
This is the first time in many years.
That is why.
[These people] were not fully prepared.
If they were, they should have been evacuated much earlier. (By whom??!!)
Just because they stayed where they live.
And, but You see, they didn't realize how serious the disaster was.
